REACH Foundation’s Inaugural Mission Trip

This summer, REACH Foundation launched its very first comprehensive medical mission to Ghana—and what an incredible start it was!

Our team traveled to two major cities and several rural locations throughout the country. We had physicians, nursing and medical students, and passionate volunteers as part of the team. Together, we served two orphanages through medical clinics, vacation bible schools, and facility improvements.

In addition to our orphanage work, we partnered closely with local hospitals and were able to provide nearly 300 free surgeries to individuals facing financial hardship in central Ghana! Praise God for what was originally slated to be just 150 surgeries!

Check out several of the highlights from our trip below:

MEDICAL CLINICS AND ORPHANAGE CARE

Pediatric Wellness Screenings at a Kumasi orphanage

Each day, we held wellness checks for the children and their adult caregivers. Our team was able to screen nearly 90 kids over the course of three days!

We collaborated closely with a Ghana-based team to ensure comprehensive assessments and appropriate follow-up care where needed. Through these screenings, we discovered several medical concerns and are working on ways to provide specialty care in the areas that need it most.

Our Nutritional Support programs also benefited from these screenings, as we gain a deeper understanding of the vitamin and nutrient deficiencies these kids may face. We’re encouraged by the ways these orphanage partnerships are growing—both during and beyond our semi-annual trips!

SHARING THE GOSPEL

Bringing the story of Esther to life—one coloring page and conversation at a time

Our teams hosted Vacation Bible School (VBS) at both orphanages. We used the story of Esther as our anchor, teaching about God’s providence, courage in the face of fear, and the living hope of Jesus Christ. We experienced indescribable joy as we engaged in singing, dancing, storytelling, and crafts with the children!

Please pray for the hearts and minds of those that hear the name of Jesus. Pray for an understanding and acceptance of the beautiful sanctuary He offers us in His care.

FACILITY UPDATES

Constructing the new beds we provided to one of the orphanages

Our times at the orphanages included several opportunities to improve the conditions in which these kiddos live. These updates included painting, construction of new beds, and providing new mattresses.

A particularly moving moment was building a wheelchair ramp for a young boy with disabilities. This now allows him safe and easy access to his living space and school. Watching his face light up after he used the ramp for the first time reminded our team why these small projects often make the biggest impact.

RURAL SURGERIES AND HOSPITAL PARTNERSHIPS

Collaborating with local hospital staff to better understand and support rural healthcare delivery

We have the privilege of partnering with Ankaase Methodist Hospital, who provide care well outside the city of Kumasi, Ghana.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to donate essential medical supplies and provide funding to support nearly 300 life-changing surgeries to those in need. These procedures—ranging from minor to more complex operations—had a direct impact on hundreds of individuals and their families.

Our team was also able to shadow their Ghanaian medical teams, learning firsthand about the country’s healthcare delivery systems and the challenges they face. These moments of mutual learning laid a foundation for future collaboration—and deepened our understanding of how we can continue to assist in sustainable, respectful ways.

We came to give, but we received much in return. Through every clinic, every conversation, and every joyful song, God’s presence was unmistakably with us—reminding us that his eternal hope is present in any circumstance.

This is just the beginning.

We’re already dreaming about how to deepen our partnerships and return with even more support in the future. Thank you to everyone who prayed, gave, and sent us—your generosity made this possible.

We invite you to continue praying with us, sharing the story of those we serve, and supporting future trips as we prepare to return. As always, reach out to us at any time!

Sincerely,
Your REACH Foundation Team
